The mining process in longwall mining is becoming increasingly automated. In various situations, operator intervention is required to make corrections or to control the process, for example, when using the overhead extraction method. EEP offers various possibilities for remote control.
Remote controls for performing hydraulic shield support functions have been in existence for a good 20 years. Up to now, remote controls have not been able to establish themselves in the broad mass because a complex registration process at the respective control unit was necessary. EEP has developed a remote control which, in combination with a location recognition system, recognizes your position within the longwall and thus automatically establishes a connection to the local control unit.
The PR-CON-RC remote control is designed for remote control of shield supports equipped with PR-CON-324/4xx shield control units (SCU).
The integrated location recognition of the remote control enables continuous position monitoring in addition to the automatic login procedure. Configurable safety zones prevent any operation of shield supports in danger zones. In addition to a more efficient process due to the automatic and thus considerably faster logon, the security of the operator is massively increased by the configurable restricted zones.
If no location recognition system is available, the remote control can alternatively establish a connection to the desired control unit via an IR signal.
